Why Burly?
Burly Holds are wooden climbing holds that are made from the “burls” or outgrowths found on tree trunks and branches. Designed by nature, this means that no two holds are the same.
Our products are significant in that no living trees were cut down to produce them, making these unique holds the choice for eco-conscious climbers.
Each hold was carefully cut out from a tree that was killed by fire in the natural regeneration process of the Boreal Forest. Generally, these trees are only valued for their use as firewood, however, we envisioned the worth of trekking deep into these forests, searching for the sparse and scattered trunks and branches with burls to harvest.
